The Summer I Turned Pretty really put coastal decor on the map. From the infamous beach house in the fictional town of Cousins to the beachy patterns that appear on the characters’ beds, this Prime series, currently in its third and final season, is one to watch for design inspiration.
One of the key trends we can’t stop thinking about is the show’s penchant for cool color schemes. Blues and greens are everywhere, from the front door of the beach house, which we are greeted by in season 1, to the dark green entryway.

‘The first step when choosing a color for a particular room is to always think about how you want to feel in that space,’ explains designer Matthew Williamson. ‘Do you want to feel calm and relaxed? Choose cool tones, from blue to green, and then work with a few additional shades similar to this colour base to dress the room with larger items.’

While the tones in the show vary from dark to pastel, the ones that combine both blue and green (that is, turquoise) make for bold yet elegant design choices.
