Today, we travel with more gadgets, devices and gear than ever. When we hit the road, most of us pack our laptop, smartphone, headphones — you might even bring a tablet or handheld console, too — and all the necessary chargers and cables to keep them powered on. It’s a lot.
If that accurately describes how you travel, Waterfield Designs may have just created your ultimate travel backpack.
It’s called the Tech Folio Tank Backpack, and it’s the biggest and most feature-packed backpack that the San Francisco-based bag maker has ever made.

Two laptop compartments
The Tech Folio Tank Backpack is a larger and more sophisticated version of the company’s Tech Folio Backpack.
According to the brand, the “Tank” is designed to accommodate larger gear, including most gaming laptops up to 18 inches, while “maintaining the same sophisticated aesthetic and meticulous organization” of its Tech Folio Backpack.
But it’s not just one 18-inch laptop that the Tank can fit. It has two built-in padded laptop sleeves, the second of which can fit a 13-inch laptop or a large tablet.

Pockets galore
The Tech Folio Tank Backpack has a spacious 30-liter main compartment, which is where the two laptop sleeves are located along with two open pockets and a hidden pocket that’s specifically designed for holding an AirTag.
On the other side, there’s a second full-length compartment, which faces away from when wearing the backpack, with a grand total of 11 pockets.

There are five mesh zippered pockets for cables and adapters, two padded fleece pockets for batteries and power supplies, and four water-resistant nylon open-topped pockets.
On the outside of the backpack, there’s a leather pocket with a hidden magnetic closure that you can use to store some of your most frequently used gadgets and personal items.

Ballistic nylon or waxed canvas
The Tech Folio Tank Backpack is made of the same premium materials as its smaller sibling. You have the choice of ballistic nylon or waxed canvas, both of which have full-grain leather accents.
Additionally, each backpack comes with YKK waterproof zippers, custom metal hardware, and impact-resistant foam padding.
There’s a leather-wrapped handle in case you want to carry like a briefcase. There’s also a wheeled suitcase pass-through, so you slip it over your roller luggage’s handle.

Price and availability
Waterfield Designs says it developed the “Tank” for people who wanted a professional-looking backpack that could also accommodate their large laptops and gaming setups.
The Tech Folio Tank Backpack is available now in four finishes — two ballistic nylon or two waxed canvas — and it can be ordered from the company’s website now. Each backpack costs $419.
For those interested in a smaller or slimmer version of this exact backpack, Waterfield Designs offers precisely that. The “Standard” and “Slim” versions cost $399 and $379, respectively.
